Ok, so i'm pretty tired tonight. I know, i know, lectures all round.
Yesterday amongst many hours work sneaked in a body pump class and ran my recovery 4 miles in 35 mins on the treadmill (well, 34.55 to be precise) Also made sure I really stretched myself out in the pilates class I taught in the evening.
Had a lovely lady come in for an induction on Monday, mid 50s probably, not overweight, BP fine, but just not exercised for years. Said she had been a member since April and had 4 inductions but never used the gym because she just felt overwhelmed. Tried once and couldnt make the bike work (you have to pedal on our ones before lights come on and u can press any buttons and as soon as u stop pedalling it turns off) There were then a lot of tears as she told me she had been sat outside for half an hour crying because she was too scared to come in. It was soooooooo sad, I just felt so sorry for her and realised just how hard some people find it to exercise in a place where everyone is pounding away on the treadmills. I asked her what she wanted from the place, honestly, and all she really wanted was to get a bit fitter- just to stay healthy, and to have a chat with some people. So we sat down with the class timetable for a longggggg time, had a long chat about things and chose which 3 she was going to go to. Told her not to go near a spinning or circuits class, but to start with 2 LBT classes and an aqua class where I know the people all chat a lot and where the teachers really talk to the class and are very bubbly/welcoming. She'll get to know people, and she really does want to get going with everything. It will be a great start for her, and she was delighted to know that she could now come in here and just walk straight theough the gym and just keep on going to the studio and changing rooms- just pretend its not even here for now. She might one day tackle the gym who knows- but now isn't the time. Also recommended she has a nice jacuzzi/sauna after the class so she associates it with good things in her mind. Tears had been replaced by a smile as she was leaving, and she looked really motivated and happy, it was lovely, and althoughI didn't show her how to do anything, was the best induction i've had for a while.
She came in today (Tues) for the aqua class and stayed for my abs class (only a quick 15min blast) and she loved it, she really looked happy, I really hope she gets into it.
So, Tuesday, estate agents to awful to mention, gym ok, also had orchestra rehearsal which was fine too. Triceps been aching all day- took weights up to 7.5kg each side yesterday, can feel it today. Had a run to do this morning too, yucky one...
1m jog
4 x 1m repeats @ 6.58mm (400m jog recovery between each)
1m jog
so thats another 7 miles banked, with 4 not very nice ones in there- wasn't as bad as I expected tho.
Unsure what to do with my Wednesday runs generally. Supposed to be 9mm most weeks, ranging from 7-11 miles. My normal group at the club tend to run 8-830, so I not sure whether to do the mileage but with the normal group I run with, so do it too quick, or to plod billynomates alone. Suggestions on a postcard....

I'd say do the mileage if the club peeps are doing the right amount for your schedule. You know you'll enjoy going faster and you're doing plenty of the slower stuff. Let yourself be naughty occasionally :o)
would say I'd run with you but it's my class night. I agree with Wumbly tho - 8:30 will be fine.
And well done with that woman - shows what a good instructor u make :o))))
